The Reuben Wood team would like to congratulate Steve, Senior Stylist at our High Street salon, on his successful audition for a place on L’Oréal’s ID Artist Team!
Steve built upon recent work from his Creative Innovation entry into the Great Lengths 2018/19 Awards, where he created an image inspired by depictions of various saints and the Virgin Mary. Shortly following this entry, the 2018 Met Gala took place, this years theme being ‘Heavenly Bodies’, where many guests wore opulent headpieces, not dissimilar to the one Steve handmade for his Great Lengths entry. A couple of weeks after this, Alessandro Michelle released his Gucci Cruise S/S 2019 collection which took place in an ancient Roman burial ground, taking inspiration from priests, goths, widows and ghouls, tied together with a classic Gucci-esque Glam-Rock feel.
Steve decided to carry on capturing the zeitgeist of this current time in fashion, as well as creating a continuum within his own work, and impressed the panel at L’Oréal with a theatrical yet modern entry. The combination of the hair and make up gave the opulent effect of his model ‘dripping in pearls’, offset by clashing floral prints of the styling, inspired by the aforementioned Gucci Cruise collection.
Steve can’t wait to see what’s in store over the next two years of his time on the L’Oréal ID Artist Team, and would like to thank everyone involved in helping him with his audition; Makeup – Etti Perez, Model – Mary Bedford, Assistant – Emilie Bromley, Photography – Karl Collins.
